Where things stand with Brock Rechsteiner’s WWE future after NFL suspension

Don’t be surprised if you see Brock Rechsteiner in a WWE ring soon enough.

Brock Rechsteiner’s NFL future suddenly looks a lot less certain.

Scott Steiner’s son signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. He’s also been open about the fact that professional wrestling is probably in his future if football doesn’t work out, making WWE the obvious next stop.

That possibility just got a lot more real because Rechsteiner was already viewed as a long shot to make the Saints’ final roster.

Now he’ll miss the first six games of the NFL season after being suspended for violating the NFL-NFLPA performance-enhancing substances policy.

In fact, he’s still eligible to practice and play during the preseason, but the timing couldn’t have come at a much worse moment.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said he expects Rechsteiner’s football career to end with a move to WWE.

“I expect he will be WWE-bound within a couple months. Suspended or not, he was a long shot to make the team. The suspension can’t help his odds of making the team at all. When it comes to being cut, he’s probably getting cut. But his future is probably WWE, and he’s said as much as well. I think he’s giving football a shot.”

There’s already a pretty good blueprint for how that could go.

Bron Breakker also took his shot at the NFL before eventually making the jump to WWE, and Meltzer thinks Rechsteiner could end up on a very similar path.

Bron Breakker has seen a ton of success after transitioning from the world of NFL to professional wrestling, so it can’t be discounted that Rechsteiner might see the same success.

For now, Rechsteiner is still with the Saints. But if his football career ends here, it probably won’t be long before Scott Steiner’s son is starting a very different one.
