Ever since TKO merged World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2023, it has become the largest player in the world of professional wrestling.
With WWE having been firmly established as the number one brand in wrestling for decades, the organisation is without doubt the market leader.
But with every market leader, there are always other companies looking to chip away at its lead.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) owned by Tony Khan is looking to do just that.
Since its launch in 2019, AEW has provided a legitimate alternative to both wrestlers and fans looking for something different from than what WWE has to offer.
While AEW has fallen from what was arguably its highest point in 2021, it’s still the second-biggest game in town and clearly an entity that the higher-ups at TKO are keeping an eye on.
And the latest reports suggest they’re keeping an even closer eye on the promotion than you may imagine.
Wrestling Observer journalist Bryan Alvarez posted on X that “there were TKO reps at Dynamite last week”.
The Dynamite in question was the August 12 edition held at the Pearl Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Alvarez was asked by a user on the social media platform why TKO representatives were at the event, to which he replied that they appeared to simply be taking in the show.
“I think just checking it out, they weren’t comped obviously”, Alvarez wrote.
With AEW set for its largest show of the year All In at Wembley Stadium later this month, it’s a crucial period of the year for the company.
They’ll be hoping that the TKO reps were there simply as observers.
It will be interesting to see whether more details about their attendance emerge over the coming days or weeks.
