Road Dogg’s argument with Dave Meltzer ended up taking a pretty unexpected turn.
What started as a complaint over The Gunns somehow ended with the WWE Hall of Famer claiming he lost an opportunity with AEW because of his political beliefs.
He also accused David Bixenspan of playing a role in it.
It all kicked off after Road Dogg accused Tony Khan of “sleeping” on Austin and Colten Gunn. Meltzer responded, and Road Dogg fired back with a sarcastic tweet.
“My bad Dave, I forgot, when it comes to wrestling, ONLY your opinion matters.”
Then someone replied saying this probably wasn’t the best way to go about things if he ever wanted to work for AEW.
Road Dogg’s response was surprising.
According to him, AEW had already decided they didn’t want him because of his political beliefs.
“Actually, I was turned away because of my political/core beliefs. That happened IN AMERICA.”
He didn’t stop there either.
Road Dogg then claimed Bixenspan already knew exactly what had happened before accusing him of taking screenshots of his conservative social media posts and using them to get the opportunity canceled.
“This is the guy that screenshot my social media post (I am conservative) and then used it to get my opportunity canceled.”
Road Dogg didn’t provide any evidence to support those allegations, and neither AEW nor Bixenspan has commented on his claims.
The whole thing is interesting because it started with a conversation about The Gunns and somehow turned into Road Dogg making one of the biggest claims yet about why he never ended up working for AEW.
His comments also come not long after reports that talks over a backstage role with TNA Wrestling had stalled.
Whether Bixenspan responds or not remains to be seen, but Road Dogg clearly wasn’t interested in keeping this disagreement focused on wrestling.
