The Mysterio family name is one that is legendary within the wrestling business.
Rey Mysterio Sr, who was originally just called Rey Mysterio, predominantly worked in Mexico and was the only who brought the Mysterio name to the world of wrestling.
This name was the uncle and trainer of the performer who would label himself as Rey Mysterio Jr – arguably the greatest luchador in any American wrestling promotion in history.
Rey Mysterio, who dropped the Jr tag from his name in recent years, has become a WWE Hall of Fame star having won almost every title imaginable since debuting for the promotion in 2002.
Prior to that, North American wrestling fans had seen the incredibly talented cruiserweight in the likes of Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) where his abilities and high flying style usually stole the show.
As time has gone on, another Mysterio was added as an active member when Dominik Mysterio joined World Wrestling Entertainment.
Since turning heel in 2022, Dominik has carved his own route and persona with ‘Dirty Dom’ gaining high praise for his character development.
Dominik Mysterio had the unique honour when he beat John Cena for the Intercontinental Championship in Cena’s penultimate wrestling match.
That showed how highly valued he had become to the promotion and his current reign as AAA Mega Champion underlines that point.
With that said, another member of the Mysterio family has joined WWE and she’ll be hoping to replicate some of the success of others from within the family.
PWInsider report Aalyah Gutierrez, the 24-year-old daughter of Rey Mysterio, has officially started at the WWE Performance Center.
Previously known to wrestling fans Aalyah Mysterio when she briefly was involved in an angle with Buddy Murphy in 2020, Aalyah is said to be using her real name as opposed to the Mysterio name used by her father and brother.
The publication report that she has been added to the internal roster, but there’s no further details yet on what plans are for her moving forward.
With Aalyah Gutierrez formally joining the ranks of WWE, expect to see her name mentioned in more updates over the coming weeks and months ahead.
