Mercedes Moné isn’t shutting the door on another match with Bayley.
With speculation continuing to swirl around Bayley’s WWE future, the AEW star has now addressed the possibility of stepping into the ring with her longtime rival once again.
While speaking with Daily Star, Moné was asked directly about the chances of facing Bayley again. She didn’t make any predictions about Bayley’s future, but she admitted it’s still one match she’d love to have.
“You never know in wrestling… That’s always a dream match for me.”
Moné went on to call Bayley her best friend in wrestling and one of the greatest opponents of her career, pointing back to their NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn classic as a match she believes helped change the way fans looked at women’s wrestling.
The timing of the comments is what makes them interesting.
Bayley’s WWE future has become a major talking point in recent months.
Her contract has been expected to expire around the end of 2026, although neither WWE nor Bayley has publicly commented on her status.
Moné has also added to the speculation herself.
Back in June, she shared fan artwork imagining herself and Bayley meeting at AEW WrestleDream, a post that immediately got fans talking about the possibility of Bayley eventually joining AEW.
Not everyone believes that’s where things are heading, though.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE’s continued references to Bayley on RAW suggest the company expects her to remain rather than leave for AEW.
In his view, WWE likely wouldn’t keep mentioning Bayley on television if they believed she was on her way out.
For now, that’s all it is: speculation.
Bayley’s future remains unclear, but one thing isn’t.
If she and Mercedes Moné ever end up in the same company again, Moné has made it clear she’d welcome another chapter in one of wrestling’s greatest rivalries.
