The Hardys may not be done adding championships to their résumé just yet.
Matt Hardy knows another run with the AEW World Tag Team Championships probably isn’t going to happen. That hasn’t stopped him from thinking about what could still be left for one of wrestling’s most decorated tag teams.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the veteran reflected on The Hardys’ legendary career and admitted there are still a few goals he hasn’t completely ruled out.
One of them could take the brothers back to Mexico.
Matt revealed that he’d be interested in eventually chasing the AAA World Tag Team Championships, showing it could be one more chapter for The Hardys now that Jeff Hardy’s situation has started to settle down.
“I still think there’s some things in play that we could still do. Jeff is getting to a point now where things are clearing up a little bit… who knows, there might be a possibility of doing something with the AAA Tag Team Titles at some point.”
Matt also admitted he would’ve loved to add the AEW World Tag Team Championships to The Hardys’ collection before closing that run of his career, but admitted that it simply never happened.
That doesn’t mean he’s ready to stop chasing gold altogether.
The Hardys have captured tag team championships in 12 different promotions over the years, making them one of the most accomplished teams in wrestling history. Mexico isn’t unfamiliar territory either.
Back in 2017, Matt and Jeff won tag team gold for The Crash, so another run south of the border wouldn’t exactly be new territory.
Nothing has been announced, and Matt wasn’t teasing that a title shot is already in the works.
But after everything The Hardys have accomplished over the last three decades, it sounds like they still believe there’s another championship run left in them.
Whether that eventually leads them to the AAA World Tag Team Titles is really anyone’s guess.
