Kofi Kingston has filed two new trademarks following his WWE departure.
The former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston departed the company in May 2026.
After a 20-year tenure with the company, both parties agreed to mutually part ways.
This came as a shock to many fans, who widely considered Kofi to be a WWE Superstar for the rest of his career.
Along with his tag team partners, Big E and Xavier Woods, Kofi broke many records over the years as a part of the New Day.
As well as being the previous record holders for the longest tag team championship reign in WWE history, the New Day still currently hold the title for most tag team championships under their belt, having won the gold 11 different times.
While they were breaking many records as a tag team, the stable also shares two different WWE Championship reigns between Big E and Kofi.
Arguably one of the most iconic moments in WrestleMania history, Kofi Kingston, along with the overwhelming support from fans who campaigned for his WrestleMania moment all over the internet and arenas alike, defeated Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship in 2019 at WrestleMania 35.
After his career-defining moment, he celebrated with his fellow New Day members and his family in the ring.
After Big E’s unfortunate career-ending neck injury in a freak accidental botch during an episode of SmackDown, in a tag team match against the now-defunct Brawling Brutes, the New Day struggled to land a good footing creative-wise.
They turned heel in a shocking twist a few months before WrestleMania 41, where they captured the WWE World Tag Team Championships in a victory over the War Raiders.
However, a new creative direction and a title push unfortunately were not enough for the New Day to recapture that feeling, eventually leading to their mutual departure from the company.
Now, three months later, Kofi has started to begin his post-WWE career aspirations.
The US Patent and Trademark Office lists two trademarks that were filed on August 11th by the former WWE Champion, for “KSM” and “Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah,” which is Kofi’s real legal name.
WWE own the right to the name Kofi Kingston, so the performer would not be able to use that name outside of the WWE universe.
This trademark seems to imply that Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah is potentially going to be the new name under which Kofi will perform moving forward.
There are rumors and speculation online for a while what will happen with the pair, sparking debate about a possible AEW debut in the future – potentially at All In in London.
Fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next for Kofi in his wrestling journey.
