WWE superstar Je’Von Evans recently revealed the origin behind his signature catchphrase, “your boy is bouncy.”
Evans began his wrestling journey at the age of 13 and made his first WWE appearance in 2024.
The now 22 year-old has quickly become one of the top young names in the company.
Evans started his WWE journey in NXT and has since been called up to the main roster where he currently wrestles on Raw.
On Raw, Evans has been receiving consistent air time, as well as positive crowd reactions and is currently involved in a feud with the recently rehired Big Cass.
Evans has been a fan favorite since joining WWE due to his fast pace and high risk in-ring style as well as his great mic work.
Je’Von Evans recently sat down with wrestling interviewer and podcaster Chris Van Vliet.
During their hour-long conversation Evans was asked about his signature catchphrase, “your boy is bouncy,” and where it came from.
Evans said he “just started saying it” on the Indies, and that he “like[s] to talk during [his] matches” to make them more interactive.
He then likened a match with no talking to a movie with no sound, “it’s cool, but I don’t really feel connected with it” but the talking “draws some type of connection.”
Evans says he randomly said “your boy is bouncy” during one of his independent matches and got a great reaction.
After that initial reaction, Evans never stopped saying it, including at his WWE tryout.
He says that during his tryout he followed up his catchphrase with a dropkick “and everybody was like, standing on their feet.” Given where he is now it is pretty safe to assume that his tryout was well received.
Je’Von Evans says that in the end, the catchphrase really is just him being who he is.
