Haku’s surprise WWE appearance on the July 31 edition of SmackDown immediately got fans talking.
The WWE Hall of Famer showed up in a pre-taped backstage segment with the MFTs.
During the segment, he reminded the group not to forget who they were before sending them into their match.
Haku instantly brought a lot of much-needed intensity to the MFTs last month.
It was his first appearance on WWE television in quite some time, and it naturally left fans wondering whether it was simply a one-night cameo or the beginning of something more.
There now seems to be an answer when it comes to his future, especially his contractual status with the company.
According to a report by PWInsider, Haku is already in Boston ahead of Friday night’s SmackDown and is expected to appear on the show.
PWInsider noted they haven’t heard that Haku is officially part of WWE on a full-time basis, but his presence in Boston makes it clear the company isn’t finished with him after just one appearance.
Interestingly, Haku’s first appearance almost happened a week earlier. Fightful Select had also reported that WWE originally planned to air the backstage segment the week before, before ultimately pushing it back to the SummerSlam go-home edition of SmackDown.
Before Haku got involved with the MFTs, the group had not really done much after kicking out Solo Sikoa.
For now, they are feuding with Shinsuke Nakamura, who also teased bringing someone from his past in order to face the MFTs.
Whether Haku becomes a regular part of WWE television remains to be seen. But after weeks of wondering whether July 31 was simply a cameo, fans now have a much clearer idea of where things are heading.
After all, Haku has already managed to make the MFTs more intimidating than ever. So it remains to be seen how he’ll be used on tonight’s SmackDown.
