Chris Jericho is staying All Elite.
Before Jericho joined AEW, he was in WWE for nearly 10 years.
During that run, the”The Ayatollah of Rock n’ Rolla’ built a Hall of Fame career due to many well-remembered feuds, including classic rivalries with the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Rock and John Cena.
His final major WWE feud was a friendship-turned-betrayal storyline with Kevin Owens back in 2016, which spiralled all the way into 2018. This was when Y2J eventually left WWE.
Jericho then had a short spell in NJPW, lasting around three years, before joining AEW which is where he is now.
Chris Jericho was a guest on WOR (Wrestling Observer Radio) this past Friday with Dave Meltzer and Garrett Gonzales.
During the interview, The Ocho was asked who in AEW he hopes to work with.
Even though Chris is on the older side, he still has a long list of names he would like to work with during the time he has left in the company. Jericho said:
“Kevin Knight, I would love to do more with him. I’d love to be a tag team with Ricochet. I’d love to be a tag team with Ciampa. I mean, I could do something with Jack Perry. I could work with Mark Davis. I could work with Kyle Fletcher. I could work with The Rascalz. The Rascalz could be like my minions.”
WWE fans had hoped in recent months that Chris Jericho would return to WWE after reports claimed that his AEW contract was set to expire. Fans were hoping he could make his long-awaited return at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia or during the RAW on Netflix anniversary show.
During his interview with WOR, Jericho explained why those plans did not happen and why he ultimately decided to stay with AEW instead.
“When it was time to kind of start thinking about coming back, obviously you weigh your options,” Jericho said.
“And there is a lot of factors, but the bottom line is this, and this was the one that really clinched it for me, was I’ve got skin in the game in AEW.
“I helped start AEW, and in a lot of ways, if there was no Chris Jericho, there might not have been an AEW.
“And there certainly wasn’t one before me.
“There was a WWE before Chris Jericho. There was a New Japan before. There was a CMLL before. And there’ll be an AEW after I leave, obviously.
“And I can’t wait to see how much bigger the company gets over the next 10 years, etc.
“But when it came down to it, it was like, I like working for Tony.
“We had to work some things out, which we did. It wasn’t hard to do”.
After Chris Jericho signed his new contract back in April of this year, which was frozen due to his time away from the company, Chris made his return to AEW after a year-long hiatus in Winnipeg, which is where he was born and raised.
Since his return to AEW, Jericho has been involved with the company and has continued to make his presence felt with feuds that include the major one being Ciampa and a mini one with another former WWE Superstar, Richochet.
Fans of Chris and viewers of AEW Will now be watching to see what upcoming feuds he has during his final run in AEW.
